Before branching out on his own and designing his own label, Tom Ford was the creative director for both Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. He is generally thought to be one of the most influential fashion designers of the last decade. He brought glamor back to fashion and is credited with changing the face of Gucci by making it dangerously sexy, modern and just a bit rough. He successfully kept the styles of the two labels distinct and sexy in their own unique way. In 2000, after the successful release of his black and white collection for the newly acquired Yves Saint Laurent, Ford won the VH1/Vogue award as Best International Designer. He was also in charge of advertising for the fashion giants and brought his own unique style to this as well. He brought Gucci from the brink of going under to the fashion icon it is today.
Tom Ford wants to dominate the world through fashion and admits to being a perfectionist with an unstoppable drive for success. Named after himself, the Tom Ford label includes not only clothing, but a beauty line and sunglasses as well. He has retail outlets all over the world with his flagship store in New York. His menswear line is worn by many celebrities including, Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, Pierce Brosnan, and Johnny Depp. He also designed the clothing for Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace.
Ford believes that fashion should be spontaneous and fun. He strives to make his fashions an inspiration to the men and women who wear them to be the best version of themselves. His newly unveiled women’s line has transformed fashion and brought it into a new reality. Ford’s newest designs are made for women of all sizes, ages, and stages of their lives by using elegant fabrics and classic designs to create timeless fashions.
