“Who are You Wearing” – The Answer

“Who Are You Wearing?” is a weekly TLC competition reality show that follows four contestants who aspire to be designers. Each contestant is challenged to create an outfit for a female celebrity to wear to a special event based on the celebrity’s style and the event she will be attending. Each contestant is given a $400 budget for materials and a time limit. The celebrity selects the winning design and wears it to the event.

What is unique about the show is that all of the potential designers come from different walks of life and have one thing in common – a passion for designing women’s clothes. For each of the aspiring designers “Who are You Wearing?” is a rare opportunity to learn hands on about the world of a professional designer and to see if they have the potential to succeed in the design industry.

Unfortunately, the show has received a less than glowing review from The New York Time, which noted that the show reflected a threadbare budget and lacked sufficient detail. That said, the show opens up some interesting questions about individual style preferences and what those choices say about a person.

In a broader sense, the question – “Who are you wearing?” – is about an individual’s sense of style and self. How people choose what they wear says a lot about how they see themselves and it doesn’t take designer high fashion to project a confident, in-style image when the individual knows what he or she likes in clothing and how to wear it to its best advantage. Enduring style means quality made clothing that maintains a classic and timeless design. While it may vary slightly, that fundamental theme never changes.

The best answer any person can give to the question, “Who are you wearing?” is – “myself.”
